Manchester United and Manchester City will both pursue a deal for a Lazio midfielder in the summer, while Real Madrid are watching Raheem Sterling’s situation at City, all in the papers.
MILINKOVIC-SAVIC CHASE ON
Manchester City and Manchester United have been in contact with Lazio midfielder Sergej Milinkovic-Savic, according to reports.
But the pair will have competition for the 22-year-old central midfielder, who has scored nine goals and collected six assists for the Serie A club this season.
According to Duncan Castles and Ian McGarry on the Daily Record’s Transfer Podcast United, City, Chelsea and Real Madrid have made enquiries about Milinkovic-Savic.
However, the claim by the tabloid that the the Serbia international is out of contract in 2020 appear wide of the mark with Milinkovic-Savic penning a new contract last April.
His new contract runs until June 2022 and his agent Mateja Kezman said it does not have a €50million release clause.
Jose Mourinho is expected to be on the lookout for midfielders in the summer with Michael Carrick set to retire and Marouane Fellaini on a free transfer.
And the podcast claims United scouts have been keeping tabs on the player and decided against a January swoop in favour of waiting until this summer. He won’t come cheap though and the Premier League pair will have to fork out in far more than €50million.
