Neymar: City link

The tabloids are still filling their back pages with Neymar ‘exclusives’ and Ross Barkley is in line for a new deal at Everton to ward off interest from the big boys.

The Mirror have won the wishy-washy exclusive of the day away after claiming: ‘Manchester City could/can (paper/online) make Brazil star Neymar the first marquee signing of the Pep Guardiola revolution’.

To be fair the headline writer nailed the story with ‘Pulling Power’ but after that the piece is horribly lacking any content. Basically City have got enough cash to lure Neymar to the Premier League and the 24-year-old has gone on record saying he would like to play for new City boss Guardiola. It’s really not exclusive news.

The piece then offers some quotes, but unfortunately they are from former Brazilian star Ronaldino.

Ronaldinho says: “Neymar has already stated his desire to play for Pep. That was a big statement with most people knowing that Pep would be joining Manchester City in the summer.

“We know they can pay wages that no other club in Europe has the power to do.”

The tabloid also reliably inform us City ‘would have to meet’ Barcelona’s £145million buy-out clause. Shock horror, TEAMtalk thought Barca would just give him away!.
