Jose Mourinho: Everton approach

Manchester United have approached Jose Mourinho, but they don’t want him yet and new Chelsea boss Antonio Conte wants to offload Nemanja Matic and several other Chelsea stars.

CONTE MAKING BIG PLANS AT CHELSEA

Incoming Chelsea boss Antonio Conte wants to sell Nemanja Matic to Juventus, according to the Daily Star.

Conte also plans to bring winger Juan Cuadrado, 27, back from a loan spell in Turin, but he is not convinced by Matic, 27, who has struggled to repeat his form from last season.

The Blues paid Benfica £21million to re-sign the holding midfielder in January 2014 and he was a revelation as Chelsea won the title, but he has feature only sporadically this term and if the club can recoup the money they paid for him they will sell him to Juve.

Midfielder Oscar and striker Diego Costa could also be told their futures lie elsewhere, while John Obi Mikel “has an offer from Turkey he may be encouraged to take” claims the report.

Conte though is keen on retaining midfielder Eden Hazard, 25, and he also wants to be part of Conte’s regime at Stamford Bridge after deciding to stay at Chelsea rather than pursue a possible move to Paris St-Germain or Real Madrid, says the Daily Mail.

The Daily Mail meanwhile are playing catch up on the ‘Gonzalo Higuain to Chelsea’ story – a day after it was reported in the Daily Mirror.

Finally, Conte is gping to be a busy boy during and after the Euros because he is interested in bringing Inter Milan goalkeeper Samir Handoanovic to Chelsea to replace Thibaut Courtois, claim the Daily Express

MOURINHO WANTED IN A YEAR

Manchester United have asked Jose Mourinho to wait a year before taking over as manager, according to The Sun.

We’ve been led to believe by several of the tabloids that Mourinho’s move to Old Trafford is done and dusted and just a matter of time, well now the former Chelsea boss is going to have to wait until the end of next season, so Louis van Gaal can see out the remaining 12 months of his contract.

Mourinho however wants to be back in the game this summer and “now believes he is closer than at any stage to being confirmed as the next United boss – probably by the end of the month” reports The Sun.

Manchester United supremo Ed Woodward “hoped Mourinho might accept the proposal and opt for a lucrative 12-month spell in the Chinese Super League ahead of a move to Manchester” the red top continues.

United have though approached Mourinho’s agent Jorge Mendes in the past fortnight to put forward their suggestion with Woodward still reluctant to cut short Van Gaal’s three-year contract 12 months early.
