Thibaut Courtois: Clarifies Chelsea future

Real Madrid will abandon the chase for a Manchester United target in favour of signing a Chelsea star, while the Blues’ failed efforts to sign Fernando Llorente has been leaked, according to Saturday’s newspapers.

COURTOIS FEARS GROW FOR CHELSEA

Real Madrid are growing increasingly confident of signing Thibaut Courtois, according to reports in Spain.

Marca claim the Belgian is refusing to enter negotiations with Chelsea over a new contract at Stamford Bridge after being made aware of Real’s interest in him.

Courtois spent three seasons on loan with their city rivals Atletico Madrid, but has many admirers at Real Madrid. Marca now claim they will make Courtois their top target ahead of David De Gea, with the latter now expected to sign a new deal at Manchester United.

And with Courtois’ current Chelsea deal expiring in 2019, it’s claimed Real are growing in confidence that they could convince Chelsea to sell the 6ft 6ins stopper next summer.

Chelsea won’t let Courtois go without a fight, but with just a year left on his deal by the summer, are realistic to know his value will not hold if they don’t cash in.

There’s also reports suggesting Real could offer the Blues Keylor Navas as part of any swoop for Courtois, much as the club tried when coming close to De Gea in the 2015 summer window.
