Liverpool are set to battle Southampton for a young Dortmund star, while Spurs are eyeing a pair of defenders, according to Sunday’s rumours.
Liverpool eye Dortmund starlet
Liverpool are reportedly battling Southampton to sign Borussia Dortmund winger Emre Mor this summer.
According to the Daily Mirror, the Turkish international has told Dortmund that he intends to leave the club on loan in order to gain more experience.
Dortmund have given him the green light to do so, while Jurgen Klopp has the player on his radar having watched him for a while.
Southampton are understood to have contacted BVB about a season-long loan deal for the 19-year-old.
Liverpool and the Saints have a tense relationship at the moment following the Virgil van Dijk saga, in which the Reds appeared to have all but agreed a deal before Southampton submitted a complaint.
Spurs eye defensive duo
Mauricio Pochettino seems keen to reinforce his defensive line ahead of yet another campaign in the Champions League next season.
According to the Mail on Sunday, Pochettino could turn his attention to Manchester United’s Chris Smalling after losing out to Leicester City for £17m defender Harry Maguire.
After the signing of Victor Lindelof from Benfica, it is highly likely that Smalling will find himself pushed down the pecking order under Jose Mourinho.
Meanwhile, The Sun claims that Tottenham are set to bid £15m for Swansea defender Alfie Mawson who could replace Toby Alderweireld.
Mawson arrived from Barnsley last summer, and the 23-year-old has made a big impact at the Liberty Stadium.
“Pochettino wants an extra defender — preferably good on the ball — to back up his two main centre-halves and possibly replace Toby Alderweireld if he is sold,” adds the report in The Sun.
