Paper Talk: Man Utd to re-sign ex-star for £30m; Arsenal eye Jamaican

Manchester United are poised to spend £30m to bring a former player back to Old Trafford, while Arsenal will rival Chelsea for a Bayer Leverkusen winger, according to Sunday’s newspapers.

UNITED SET FOR JANUARY SWOOP FOR JONNY EVANS

Jonny Evans could be set to return to Manchester United in the January transfer window following Eric Bailly’s injury.

That’s according to the Sunday Mirror, who claims Jose Mourinho wants to reinforce his central defensive options after Bailly was ruled out for at least three months with an ankle injury.

The paper claims Jose Mourinho thinks Louis van Gaal made a massive mistake allowing Evans to move to The Hawthorns for just £6million two and a half years ago, and is ready to battle Arsenal and Man City for his signature.

Evans was the subject of a failed £22million bid from Man City over the summer, and while reports in the Sunday Telegraph claim the Baggies will make a final big-money contract offer to keep the Irishman, it’s thought an offer of £30million will persuade them to sell.
