Tottenham are fearing a triple raid by Manchester United for three of their stars, while Riyad Mahrez has hinted at a move to another Premier League club, according to Monday’s newspapers.
TOTTENHAM FEARING TRIPLE MAN UNITED RAID
Tottenham are reportedly fearing a huge £110m swoop from Manchester United for Eric Dier, Kyle Walker and Danny Rose.
United boss Jose Mourinho has pledged to double the wages of the England trio to more than £100,000 a week to lure them to Old Trafford this summer as he plans a major overhaul of his squad.
Walker, who is rated at £40m, is the most likely of the three to leave after he fell out with Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino over concerns with his fitness this season.
The 26-year-old has been in and out of the side in recent weeks and has also been linked with a move to United’s rivals Manchester City and German giants Bayern Munich.
Rose has been injured for the majority of the second half of the campaign but up until that point had arguably been the club’s player of the season and had become England’s first choice left-back. He is rated at around £30m.
Mourinho has also been a long-term admirer of Dier, 23, and would love to have a player of his versatility at Old Trafford.
Dier is seen as a successor to Michael Carrick at the base of United’s midfield but his ability to also play at the back four means you are getting two players in one.
The former Sporting Lisbon star, who cost Spurs just £4m when he signed in 2014, is now valued at a whopping 10 times that amount.
Any negotiations for the three are likely to prove very difficult for United, however, as Spurs chairman Daniel Levy insists that none of his players are for sale, according to the report in the Daily Star.
MAHREZ HINTS AT MOVE TO LONDON
Leicester star Riyad Mahrez has sparked rumours he is keen on a move to Chelsea after being caught calling them an ‘incredible club’.
The 26-year-old had an incredible season as Leicester lifted the Premier League title in 2015-16 but has form dipped alarmingly in the first half of this campaign as the Foxes really struggled and ended up sacking boss Claudio Ranieri.
His form has lifted again since Craig Shakespeare took the reins at the KP Stadium and that has once led to talk that he could on his way of Leicester this summer.
Ahead of the game against Man City last weekend, during which Mahrez had a penalty disallowed for making a double connection with ball, French TV channel SFR Sport captured a snippet of a conversation between Mahrez and Islam Slimani, as reported in The Sun.
The striker turned to his club and country team-mate en route to the changing rooms and said: “Hey, Chelsea are champions.”
Mahrez responded by saying: “They’re an incredible club, a real club.”
Although it could be deemed that the Algerian was just making an observation, the fact that Leicester will not be playing in Europe next season has led to fresh speculation that he will look to move on this summer.
