Paper Talk: United plot £60m Spurs raid; BVB eye Arsenal starlet

Two of Tottenham’s star men are being chased by a pair of Premier League heavyweights, while one of Arsenal’s highly-rated young stars could be set to join Borussia Dortmund, according to Tuesday’s papers.

UNITED BATTLE CITY FOR TOTTENHAM FULL-BACKS

Jose Mourinho will take on Pep Guardiola in a bid to sign Tottenham full-backs Kyle Walker and Danny Rose, according to an exclusive in Tuesday’s Sun.

According to the paper, United boss Jose Mourinho is urging his club to make a sensational double £60million swoop on the England international duo – and believes he can sign the duo ahead of Man City, whose manager Guardiola is also keen on the pair.

Guardiola has made the strengthening of City’s full-back positions one of his top priorities since moving to the Etihad and it’s claimed he sees the dynamic Tottenham duo – comfortable at both full-back and in a wing-back system, would suit the style of football he wants to play.

But what the paper doesn’t seem to mention is that Tottenham are unlikely to let either man go without a fight, and having recently rewarded the duo with long-term deals, are likely to resist any approach for their players.

Although £30million apiece for the players, 26, is big money, it’s the sort of money Tottenham are likely to turn down given they’d have to bring in two quality replacements.

HIGHLY-RATED ARSENAL TEEN TIPPED FOR DORTMUND SWITCH

Arsenal midfielder Gedion Zelalem is close to joining Borussia Dortmund, according to reports.

The 19-year-old has managed just 17 minutes of action this season with two sub roles in the EFL Cup, and it’s claimed he is ready to move to Germany after being promised more first-team opportunities by Dortmund coach Thomas Tuchel.

However, ESPN believes he favours a move to Dortmund due to his father being a supporter of the club.

A move to the club would also mean a return to Germany for the youngster, who was born in Berlin and played for Hertha Berlin’s youth teams.

While Zelalem has struggled for game time this season, last time round he had more chances during a loan period with Rangers.

The teenager made 28 appearances for the Scottish giants, grabbing eight assists along the way as he looked to impress enough to earn a chance at the Emirates.
