Alan Pardew accuses Manchester United of targeting Crystal Palace star Yohan Cabaye in the 0-0 draw at Selhurst Park.
Palace were arguably the closest of the two sides to snatching a victory, with United goalkeeper David de Gea forced into a string of impressive saves.
Pardew, in criticising their willingness to “target” Yohan Cabaye, also appeared to acknowledge that the modern United have a far more negative approach than that which has previously brought them such success.
“[There were] eight fouls on him today, three or four tasty,” he said. “[He was] a target for United, they tried to slow him down
“Our senior players should have pointed that out [to the referee, Mike Jones]. He still had a very influential performance.
“[United’s style] is different, patient, but when they dominate possession they are looking for that moment, incision. That incision is what they lacked today.”
