Dimitri Payet has posted a video of the tackle which has sidelined him for three months and claimed he is “recovering”.
The West Ham playmaker was the victim of a heavy tackle from Everton midfielder James McCarthy in the weekend’s 1-1 draw and is unlikely to return until February 2016.
Payet, 28, has scored five times in the Premier League this season and has been the Hammers’ player of the season so far after his £10.7million move from Marseille and took to Instagram to inform fans he was on the mend.
“Hey guys just a little feedback. Just wanted to say that I’m recovering. I’m gonna work even harder and I will be back stronger. See you soon Hammers,” wrote Payet.
West Ham boss Slaven Bilic labelled McCarthy’s challenge a “bad tackle”, while the club’s co-owner David Sullivan was critical of Everton after Enner Valencia was also injured in the same game.
Sullivan told the club’s website: “I thought some of the tackling by Everton was strong and I was amazed it took so long for them to get a yellow card.
“We’ve ended up with two badly injured players. Some weeks the challenge on Payet would have been a red card and his injury changed the game for us.”
