Pep Guardiola has denied recent speculation suggesting that he is on the verge of extending his current deal at Manchester City.

Guardiola was appointed City manager on a three-year deal in summer 2016, but there has been speculation of discussions over an extension.

With City on course to win the Premier League title and into the Champions League quarter-finals after lifting the Carabao Cup trophy, the club are said to be keen to tie the Spaniard down for longer.

Such negotiations may still be ongoing, but Guardiola has denied that agent Josep Maria Orobtig is already in Manchester talking to City executives.

“Sometimes there is bad information,” he said. “My agent is not in town.

“Was not, is not, will not be in town in the next weeks.”
