Crystal Palace defender Patrick van Aanholt has reportedly emerged as a shock name on Pep Guardiola’s transfer target list.
According to a report in The Sun on Sunday, Guardiola is desperate to recruit cover at full-back following Benjamin Mendy’s cruciate ligament injury.
As a result, he has turned his attentions to former Sunderland man Van Aanholt, who only arrived at Selhurst Park in January.
The report claims however that Roy Hodgson could be tempted to cash in on the Dutchman, who the South Londoners paid £12million for.
Hodgson has plenty of options at full-back, with Jeffrey Schlupp and Joel Ward at left-back, as well as Pape Souare returning from injury and Jairo Riedewald also able to slot in that role.
Guardiola reportedly wants a natural left-back as cover despite the impressive performances Fabian Delph has put in in that position. Ryan Bertrand is also on his list, but the chance of prising him from Southampton are slim, the report states.
