Phil Neville picks combined Manchester XI; omits Pogba, includes Lukaku

Phil Neville has picked his combined Manchester XI ahead of Sunday’s derby at Old Trafford and invited fans to do the same.

And Neville, who played for United for 11 years from 1994-2005, made his selections with Paul Pogba missing and six Manchester United players dominating the side, despite United trailing their rivals by eight points in the Premier League.

Neville, 40, added “it was just for fun btw” (sic) before selecting three United players in his back four ahead of David de Gea. Ashley Young got the nod at left-back, with Antonio Valencia getting the vote ahead of Kyle Walker, while Phil Jones was selected alongside Vincent Kompany.

There was no room for England man John Stones, while Pogba was omitted from his midfield with Kevin de Bruyne and Nemanja Matic getting his vote.

Raheem Sterling and Leroy Sane were Neville’s wideman and up front there was no place for Gabriel Jesus with Sergio Aguero and Romelu Lukaku his preferred partnership.
