Mauricio Pochettino: Two points dropped

Mauricio Pochettino blamed Tottenham’s goalless draw with Sunderland on a poor first half display, citing it as a missed opportunity.

Spurs struggled for rhythm at the Stadium of Light against a dogged Sunderland side and, although they improved after the break, Pochettino believes it was the first half that cost them.

“We are disappointed because I think we missed two points,” he said.

“In the first half it was difficult for us to create chances, which was strange, but in the second half we played better and we had the chances to win the game.

“It was not a good night for us but it is a good thing for us to learn that we need to play from the beginning of the game with the same aggression and attitude we showed in the second half.

“We only had one shot on target in the first half and that is poor from us. The second half were much better and created chances but not enough to win the game. The clean sheet is important but not change my feelings – we are disappointed.”
