Mauricio Pochettino intends to improve Tottenham’s squad over the summer and says it is “impossible to set limits” on what his young side can achieve.
Tottenham are now seven points off Leicester City at the top of the Premier League after their draw at Liverpool on Saturday was followed by a 1-0 win for the Foxes over Southampton the following day.
Pochettino does not see this season as the only chance his young side will have to win the title ahead of a summer in which he plans to strengthen.
“It is true this is not just about this season,” said Pochettino.
“When you compare Tottenham with big sides people can see that this approach is for the long term.
“We have the youngest squad in the Premier League yet we’re here fighting for the title. The project is fantastic because we are ahead of the programme and we are only going to get better.
“For a lot of players this is their first season in the Premier League and it is sure that next season they will have more experience and in football you always need time to develop to your full quality.
“It is impossible to set limits. It is also important to improve our squad. Our idea is to keep the main group for the next few years and to try and build and add players that can help us.”
