Real Madrid are reportedly ready to match Manchester United’s offer for Juventus star Paul Pogba – and give the France midfielder the move he ‘craves’.
The 23-year-old has been heavily linked with a return to the Red Devils in the past couple of days, with reports claiming Jose Mourinho’s side will present an official offer worth somewhere between €100-120million.
United had hoped their world record offer for the player would blow away any competition from their fellow suitors and news from France on Friday that claimed ‘the player had set his heart on a return to Old Trafford’ seemed to suggest Pogba was theirs for the taking.
However, reports in the Gazetta Dello Sport suggest Real coach Zinedine Zidane has asked his directors to match United’s offer, and give the player the chance to join the club which his father hinted last weekend was his first choice.
And the European champions would have no qualms paying the reported €15m a season in wages that Pogba would command.
That would effectively mean the player’s next move would effectively come down to the choice of the player, though his agent Mino Raiola could yet have a say on his client’s next destination.
Raiola, who is known to have close links with Manchester United, has reportedly advised the player that a return to Old Trafford would best suit his career right now.
