Manchester United new boy Anthony Martial has been backed to “bring a lot” to the France national team by Juventus midfielder Paul Pogba.
Martial made his debut for the senior side as a substitute in Friday’s 1-0 friendly win over Portugal and is likely to be involved again against Serbia on Monday night.
Pogba has been impressed by the 19-year-old and believes he will get even better having joined Manchester United.
“I call him ‘the young old man’ because he’s 19 and he’s already so mature for his age,” Pogba said.
“I’m very happy for him, he’s changed clubs now, he’s in the Premier League where he will train with great players and will keep improving.”
France coach Didier Deschamps echoed Pogba’s comments, adding: “He’s very calm, it’s in his nature. It’s a quality he has.
“But he’ll also have to push himself. He will need to fight against his nature because it comes too easily to him.
“Playing at the highest level is a battle and in England he will be well served.”
