Tough but not impossible for Leicester because Athletico aren’t quite up to the level of the previous seasons.
The home leg coming second helps but Leicester will need to return from Athletico still in the tie.
The other three are tasty ties.
nine nine nine
Some interesting ties, think Leicester have half a chance, Bayern vs Real will be interesting.
On paper the Dortmund v Monaco tie looks to have plenty of goals in it.
pale shadow of the untied teams that one doubles and trebles, how many matches did those smaller squads play and win a high % of to win the double/treble? Same congestion its just good old Maureen doing what he does best, maybe he is getting annoyed at the travel lodge
Another dire performance that merely reiterated the need for JM/Woodward to spend BIG in the summer.
Get the best, ignore ‘old timers’nd forget about the likes of youngsters just bursting on the scene – give these lads time to develop and learn their trade. Here I’m talking about the likes of Mbappe and Kessie. Only experienced players are needed.
Can’t understand Mourinho’s constant moaning about the fixtures. When we play away at Rostov on the Thursday and then at home the following Thursday surely the best time to play a match in between is the Monday?! Also moaning about the fixtures as the reason for injuries, well its not the powers that be that are making you play Pogba every single minute of every single game! Maybe if you dragged him off once in a while when he’s having one of his many stinkers you wouldn’t be in this situation, simple as that!
redblood agree we have alot of dross at the club but one thing i cant agree on is when people say we are playing better football this year than under van gaal – some of the football and tactics have been absolutely awful to watch and personally i think the football this year is just as bad as it has ever been.
rs83-The club had a very bad summer transfer window imho,in terms of moving players on!.The likes of Rooney,Carrick,Young,Schweini,Darmian should have been sold/moved on.January too, with only Morgan and Depay moved on,where it should have been couple more players at least!.Now we are struck with so much dead-wood in the likes of Valencia,Jones,Smalling,Fellaini,Young!.God help us.
Here’s the thing. We’re given 7 places on the bench for substitutions yet atm we can’t bring on anyone reliable to turn a game on it’s head. It’s clear what that means. We need to sign at least 7 players especially if that would relegate some of our poorer performers to the bench.
GK, FB, CB, CM, WG, WG, ST is pretty much what a regular bench would consist of and that’s exactly what we would NEED to get in the summer. This is provided we don’t lose any of our key players. Klopp needs to be realistic and realise that this side isn’t good enough atm.
We can all see the weaknesses in the squad however you can’t fix everything in one window just like he couldn’t last summer. It’s a careful balance when making signings, bringing the right players in for the best price without messing with the squad harmony/togetherness to much. It’s a careful balance klopp with have to reach to achieve this.
If you could prioritise positions, let’s say 4 positions which would you put to the top of the queue? I would say 4 first teamers this summer and perhaps a few younger players to improve competition in the squad. I do expect at least 5 players to leave and Sturridge will be one of the first on the list, he is not a klopp player and unreliable.
The priority has to be centreback quickly followed by leftback this summer.
We’re top scorers so clearly we’re not having problems putting it in the back of the net but we are on course this season to concede 50 goals again for the 3rd season running.
If we could only sign 4 players I’d go with centre back, full back, wide attacker and striker.
I’m hoping a proper defence will give less for the keepers to do and that Grujic can grow in a commanding centre midfielder.
Tomorrow lunchtime Clouseau will take his team of bottlers to The Hawthorns in what is a must win game for Arsenal. He will be up against Pullis, one of his Nemesis’s and an unsavoury character. There is nothing Pullis likes more than kicking lumps out of Wenger, and his team (literally) whenever he gets the chance.
Wenger claims Arsenal’s confidence is back after the win against Lincoln so we have nothing to worry about then do we. As usual Wenger’s team selection and the attitude of the players will be key. Go into this game in our usual dopey half-soaked way and it could be painful. We should have the beating of The Baggies but we will have to be up for the game.
My fear is that he will pick Xhaka and ‘the snail’ will get sent off (worth a bet actually). I hope he finally drops the useless Ozil and goes with pace. The team I would like to see (but wont) is: Cech, Bellerin, Mustafi; Koscielny; Gibbs; Walcott; Coquelin; Oxlade-Chamberlain; Ramsey; Perez; Sanchez. We need the points badly.
Where will Romelu Lukaku be playing his football next season?
