The race for the top four in the Premier League is hotting up, with the title seemingly beyond the reach of the chasing pack.
Arsenal, Liverpool, the two Manchester clubs and Spurs are all vying to sneak into the Champions League, but who is most likely to miss out?
From 11,154 votes, here are the results on who TEAMtalk readers think will finish outside the top four…
Manchester City – 340 votes
Manchester City are still at the beginning of what promises to be an exciting spell under Pep Guardiola, but we have already seen what the team is capable of.
Sitting in third place, City may be 10 points behind leaders Chelsea, but they are also three points clear of Liverpool in fifth place.
With Champions League knockout games to come and a potential FA Cup run in tandem, it will be interesting to see whether the Sky Blues can stay on track…
Tottenham – 351 votes
Under Mauricio Pochettino, Spurs have produced some of the most exciting football in the league which has resulted in some real statement wins such as against Chelsea.
They boast an impressive record too, with a league-low 16 goals conceded and just two defeats all season, putting them in second place and four points clear of fifth place.
Getting embarrassingly knocked out of the Champions League was a blip on the radar, but being in the Europa League and the FA Cup still gives them similar congestion to Man City.
Arsenal – 1415 votes
Arsenal are going through somewhat of a crisis at the moment, something which has perhaps contributed to the amount of people believing they will miss out on the top four.
Defeats to Watford and Chelsea leave them just a point above Liverpool in fifth spot, all while the section of supporters calling for Arsene Wenger to be sacked grows louder.
Still, a joint league-high 52 goals scored shows that the Gunners have the firepower to stay at the top, and counting them out despite their consistency over the past few years could be foolish. They do however have a lot of fixtures to contend with…
Manchester United – 3000 votes
Before the season a lot of people were backing the Premier League to be won by a Manchester club, with the new management for both sides and the levels of spending seen.
In truth, Jose Mourinho has not found it easy despite the star-studded additions like Paul Pogba, Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Henrikh Mkhitaryan, and they sit in sixth place with just 12 wins in 24 league games this season.
With FA Cup and Europa League fixtures still to come, it is imperative for United to keep improving, and a 3-0 win at Leicester last time out shows they may have what it takes to at least make the top four.
Liverpool – 6046 votes
By far the fans’ favourite to miss out on Champions League football is Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool, even if they do currently sit above United in the Premier League table.
The Reds have gone through a crisis period too recently like Arsenal, after getting knocked out of the FA Cup by Wolves, the EFL Cup and essentially being out of the PL race after defeat at Hull.
However, this means they can focus entirely on the league, and sure enough Klopp’s men with regain their form.
