TEAMtalk understands Port Vale legend Tom Pope is set to re-join the club.
The 31-year-old striker spent more than four years with the Valiants until leaving for Bury in 2015.
Now Stoke-born Pope is set to get the chance to add to his tally of 69 goals which came in nearly 200 appearances for the club.
His two seasons at Bury have not been a huge success, but now he will get the chance to lead Port Vale back up to League One following their relegation into the bottom division.
Pope is poised to agree to a free transfer, despite having one-year left on his contract, in order for Lee Clark to free up some of his budget.
