Paris Saint-Germain have contacted the representatives of Manchester United striker Anthony Martial about a possible summer move, according to reports.
French daily L’Equipe claim the Ligue 1 champions are looking for a replacement for Zlatan Ibrahimovic, who yesterday made a statement regarding his future.
The report says that PSG are hunting far and wide for an able replacement and Cristiano Ronaldo, Neymar, Alexis Sanchez, Eden Hazard and Antoine Griezmann have all been mentioned but all, bar Hazard, are unlikely to move on this summer.
United forward Martial is also believed to be on PSG’s shopping list with the French moneybags prepared to lavish £36.7million on the 17-goal forward.
Speaking to BeIN Sports, Martial’s ‘entourage’ have confirmed that they have received multiple approaches from multiple clubs about a possible summer move, but claimed he is “happy at Manchester United”.
Martial, who arrived from Monaco for an initial £39million last summer, has had an impressive debut season in the Premier League with 11 goals in 30 appearances and United would be very reluctant to sell the 20-year-old.
PSG though can guarantee Champions League football next season and a return to his home city. Martial comes from the outskirts of Paris, having been brought up in the Les Ulis suburb and he may well fancy a move back to his homeland to a club who notoriously pay big wages.
PSG would most probably have to match the £62million total transfer fee, which was leaked earlier this year, to take the eight-cap forward back to France but United are still expected to be unwilling to sell their prized asset.
Martial, who signed a four-year deal in September, said last month that it “would be nice” to play alongside Ibrahimovic at United next season.
