Southampton boss Claude Puel did not appear too concerned about reports surrounding the future of Virgil van Dijk and Jose Fonte.
Van Dijk is said to have caught the eye of Liverpool after a string of impressive performances at the heart of the Saints defence, but his current manager Puel was keen to stress that all his players are committed to the Southampton cause.
“All the players are in the club’s project, and for this season it is important to continue this work with good spirit and this is true with all the players,” said Puel at his latest press conference.
“It is just rumour and it’s not important for me.”
The manager was also asked about the fact his rotated captain Jose Fonte is yet to sign the contract he has been offered amid reported interest from Manchester United.
“I don’t know my first team with 11 players. My first team has 22 or 23 different players and this is important for me,” he added.
“Jose has a contract and after I don’t speak about the contract of the players.
“It’s a story between the club and the player and this is private.”
Puel also refused to discuss Southampton’s apparent interest in Celtic’s Moussa Dembele.
