Pulis: Praised the West Brom away supporters

West Brom manager Tony Pulis says that the “best team won and deserved to win” after his side progressed to the FA Cup fourth round with a 1-0 win over Bristol City.

Salomon Rondon scored the only goal of the match in the 52nd minute to send Pulis’s side into the fourth round, coming up against League One outfit Peterborough.

Bristol City fought back in the second half and came close to levelling the match but the Baggies were able to hang on to progress to the next round.

And manager Pulis says that his side “deserved to win” after claiming a hard fought victory at Ashton Gate.

Speaking after the match, Pulis said: “I felt that we controlled the game.

“In the last quarter of an hour I think they had a few opportunities and in the first half they had one opportunity where Chris Brunt’s calf went, but I think generally we controlled the game of football.

“We knew it was going to be difficult but the best team won tonight and deserved to win.

Pulis also praised the “fantastic” Baggies away support after his side played their third consecutive away game in only six days.

“The away support at this football club is wonderful,” said Pulis.

“For the supporters to come to three away games on the bounce is just fantastic.

“And I’d like personally just like to thank them for coming, it makes such a difference.

“Win, lose or draw they’ve really got behind the lads. They’re a credit to this football club.”
