Ramsey ‘flattered’ by Barcelona link

The Welshman joined the Gunners from Cardiff in 2008 and after initially struggling to adapt to his new surroundings, has since become an established member of Arsene Wenger’s squad.

But now Ramsey has suggested he, like his Wales international team-mate Gareth Bale, would one day like to swap north London for Spain.

“Obviously it’s very flattering,” he told the Guardian when asked about Barcelona’s interest.

“They did the treble last year and it’s just really nice to be linked with one of the best clubs in the world.

“One day I would like to go over to Spain to play just to see what it’s like and to experience that. But at the moment I’m with Arsenal and I feel like this Arsenal team can go and be successful and challenge for things.”

The news will bring back painful memories for Gunners fans, who have suffered badly at the hands of Barcelona.

Over the years the Catalan club have poached a number of Arsenal’s best players, including Cesc Fabregas, Thierry Henry, Marc Overmars, Emmanuel Petit and Alex Song.
