Real Madrid are reportedly keen to respond to Barcelona’s Philippe Coutinho signings with a star acquisition of their own.
Coutinho made his long-anticipated move to Barcelona from Liverpool for a British record fee worth up to £142million after a deal was agreed between the clubs.
The Brazil international signed a five-and-a-half-year contract, having made him their number one target following his countryman Neymar’s world-record £200.6million move to Paris St Germain.
Barca’s Clasico rivals Real are reportedly looking on enviously, as they sit fourth in the table, 16 points behind the Catalan giants.
According to reliable Italian journalist Gianluca Di Marzio, Los Blancos want to respond to the Coutinho signing by making a statement of their own.
He claims that they are targeting Liverpool star Mo Salah, who has been racking up the goals since his move from Roma in the summer.
Real believe that they can convince 25-year-old to move to the Spanish capital, but Jurgen Klopp is highly unlikely to let yet another key man leave.
Liverpool have already been linked with moves for Leicester’s Riyard Mahrez and Monaco’s Thomas Lemar as they look to reinvest their £142m windfall.
