Real Madrid stick €15m fee on reported Tottenham target

Mariano: Turned down move to Merseyside

Real Madrid have told suitors Tottenham that striker Mariano Diaz will cost €15million (£13.2million) if they follow up on their reported interest.

The 23-year-old Dominican Republic international is likely to leave the Bernabeu this summer after finding first-team chances hard to come by under Zinedine Zidane.

As well as Spurs, the likes of Atletico Madrid, Real Betis, Malaga and Lazio have all been linked with the player, who made 14 appearances in all competitions this season for Real, scoring five times.

But amid claims that the player favours a move to Tottenham and work under Mauricio Pochettino, reports in Spain suggest Real Madrid have named their price for the player.

Marca reports Real Madrid want €15million for the former Espanyol player and will also insist on a buy-back clause in any deal for the striker.

Spurs are in the market for a new striker this summer as they seek cover and competition for Harry Kane and although their reported interest in Diaz has yet to be confirmed, the strikercould be an option if Tottenham were seeking a cheaper option.

After five goals in 14 goals last season, Diaz scored 27 in 33 for Real Madrid B the season previous.
