Real rule out Ronaldo United return talk

Ronaldo is said to be unhappy with Benitez’s coaching methods fueling speculation that United are pondering a bid to re-sign the Portuguese superstar.

Ronaldo played a key role in helping Real to a thumping 4-1 pre-season win over Man City in front of a 99,382 crowd at Melbourne’s MCG on Friday, and Benitez was quick to insist his player will stay in Madrid.

“People were talking about something that happened in a training session but you could see today he’s happy and he’s playing well,” Benitez said.

“I’m really pleased because he’s scoring goals and winning man of the match.

“Everything is fine. In football you have to concentrate on the future, and the future is quite positive.”

United, who sold Ronaldo to Madrid in 2009 for a then world record £80million, have made no secret they would one day like the Portuguese frontman to return.

But Benitez gave them no encouragement with his emphatic denial that the pair have a problem as they approach the new season.

And as Ronaldo boarded Madrid’s team bus after the game he was relaxed and smiling after his super-show which City found too hot to handle.
