Renato Sanches: Taste for trophies at Benfica

Renato Sanches says he rejected the chance to join Manchester United because he believes Bayern Munich offer him a greater chance of winning titles.

The 18-year-old recently joined the Bundesliga champions from Benfica in a deal that could be worth up to €80million, and in the process shunned keen interest from the Red Devils.

He, though, explained his decision, revealing that the lure of winning silverware was what prompted him to opt for the Bavarians.

“Manchester United made an offer. I think it was well known,” the teenager told reporters at a promotional event. “But I had other offers as well.”

“I chose Bayern Munich because it’s a great club. They have a 65,000 seater stadium and an atmosphere similar to Benfica. I’ll win titles.”
