Arsenal are set to miss out on one of their summer targets, after midfielder Jean Michael Seri agreed to join Roma.

Gunners boss Arsene Wenger was spotted in Nice earlier this summer, reportedly in the hope of trying to land the Ivory Coast star, but appears to have come up empty.

Indeed, French radio station RMC claims that Roma were given permission to speak to the 25-year-old last week, although the Italian giants have yet to agree a fee for the player.

Nice have revealed that they will only accept Seri’s release clause of €40m (£35m), while Roma are expected to make an improved offer of €35million (£30.6m) which is set to be rejected, according to the report in Metro.

Roma, however, are confident of sealing a deal for Seri, who scored seven goals and provided nine assists as Nice qualified for the Champions League, this week.
