Spanish giants Atletico Madrid are being linked with a shock move for Leicester striker Jamie Vardy this summer.
Vardy and Arsenal star Alexis Sanchez are both rumoured to be on the La Liga outfit’s wanted list, with talk persisting that Antoine Griezmann will move on at the end of the season despite Atletico boss Diego Simeone claiming his star man is going nowhere.
Doubts also remain whether Simeone will stay on at Atletico, while the club are also waiting to see if they have a Fifa transfer ban overturned by the Court of Arbitration for Sport [Cas].
Despite those issues, The Independent is reporting that Vardy and Sanchez are very much on Atletico’s radar as they prepare to move into their stunning new Estadio La Peineta for the 2017-18 season.
Simeone was said to have been incredibly impressed with Vardy when his Atletico side knocked Leicester out of the Champions League and believes the England star would suit his side’s counter-attacking style of play.
Vardy is not Atletico’s only target this summer, however, with Sanchez also in the running for a switch to Spain, while Napoli’s Edinson Cavani and Real Madrid’s Alvaro Morata are also on Simeone’s wanted list.
