Chelsea are reportedly trying to beat London rivals West Ham to the signing of Middlesbrough winger Adama Traore this summer.
Blues boss Antonio Conte is said to have been tracking the speedy star over the last few weeks and Spanish newspaper SPORT claims that the Premier League champions are close to getting their man.
Only last week the London Evening Standard claimed that the Hammers were set to sign the 21-year-old after the player held talks with the club’s co-owner David Sullivan.
The report stated that a fee of around £8million had been agreed but now Chelsea are ready to step in and land the player.
Traore is a mecurial talent, blessed with searing pace and power but hardly any end product.
He first moved to England with Aston Villa from Barcelona for £8million in the summer of 2015 before joining Boro for £7m a year later, but has spent the majority of his time in the Premier League seemingly frustrating fans and probably team-mates and managers alike.
A move to Chelsea would come as a huge shock but Conte has shown in his one season in charge at Stamford Bridge that he is adept at turning so-called good players into title winners, so anything is possible with a player of Traore’s attributes.
