Manchester City are preparing a package to lure Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang to the club this summer and rival Liverpool for the striker’s signature.
The Borussia Dortmund hitman has asked to leave the Bundesliga giants this summer and a move to PSG seemed inevitable after the player agreed personal terms with the Ligue 1 outfit.
However, PSG’s sporting director Antero Henrique decided that the €70million asking price for Aubameyang, at 28 years of age, did not represent good value for money, leaving the player in something of a state of limbo.
Reports over the weekend suggested Liverpool were keen to bring the player to Anfield and our Euro Paper Talk earlier on Monday indicated the Gabon striker had made a move to the club ‘his No 1 focus’.
However, Sky Sports are reporting that Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola is ready to reignite his interest in the former St Etienne striker, who scored 40 goals in 45 matches in all competitions for the Bundesliga giants this season.
City held talks with Aubameyang last summer when Guardiola was first appointed, but no agreement was reached and the player opted to stay with BVB for a further season, mainly in the hope of earning a dream transfer to Real Madrid.
However, with the choice of clubs keen to meet the £61.3million asking price for Aubameyang, City could have a genuine chance of landing the player the second time around, with the free-scoring striker seemingly having a straight choice between City and Liverpool.
