Jurgen Klopp: Has right temperament for Liverpool job, says Effenberg

Jurgen Klopp is reportedly ready to end his sabbatical from football – but the German hasn’t been approached by Liverpool, according to Sky Sports.

Klopp ended a trophy-laden seven-year spell with Borussia Dortmund in May earlier this year, saying that he wished to take a year out of a professional football career that stretches as far back as his playing days in 1990.

Despite that, the German has been persistently linked with Liverpool and their poor start to the season has further increased the pressure on Brendan Rodgers.

The Reds needed a penalty shootout to overcome League Two Carlisle in the Capital One Cup on Wednesday, while the Anfield club sits 13th in the Premier League table after a run of four games without a win.

The club moved to dismiss claims that they had approached Italian manager Carlo Ancelotti with a view to replacing Rodgers, but Klopp remains one of the bookmakers’ favourites to replace Rodgers if he leaves.

Sky Sports report that while Klopp is interested in working in the Premier League and is open to ending his sabbatical in order to do so, Liverpool have still not approached him.

Last week, The Independent reported that FSG have been “warned against hiring the German, presumably by someone with first-hand practice of working with him.”
