Real Madrid trio Gareth Bale, Luka Modric and Raphael Varane are all reportedly on the radar of Manchester United.
Executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward on Thursday hinted that there could be plenty of transfer activity in and out of Old Trafford in the summer as he spoke to and fielded investors’ questions.
And Reports in the Spanish media on Friday morning suggest United are ready to flex their financial muscle in the summer and, if Jose Mourinho is appointed – as the papers claim he will be – then the former Real bosses contacts will become invaluable.
Sport claim Mourinho’s contact book will be put to good use with Bale, Modric and Varane on United’s shopping list.
Bale’s future was thrown into doubt by the decision to replace Rafael Benitez with Zinedine Zidane and although the Welshman immediately claimed his future in Madrid was assured, reports suggest United will test the resolve of the La Liga club in the summer.
Former Spurs midfielder Modric has made 27 appearances for Real this term and continues to be a key figure for Zidane, but he is 30 years-old and Real could be tempted to sell the player for the right price with United desperate to add some invention in their midfield.
France defender Varane, 22, is also a key member of Zidane’s team but United are focused on strengthening their rearguard and they are expected to make a huge offer for the former Lens centre-back.
