Phil Jones has admitted he has found life tough on the Manchester United sidelines but is now “delighted” to be back in the fold.
The defender had not featured for the Red Devils since January but repaid the faith shown in him by manager Jose Mourinho in the 3-1 win at the Liberty Stadium with an eye-catching display at centre-back.
“I’m delighted to have started,” Jones told MUTV after the Swansea success.
“I worked hard to get to where I am, it’s been a difficult few months. Watching the lads play and not being able to be involved was tough, but today was a really good feeling for me.
“It’s been a nightmare. It’s been difficult for me but all I can do is keep plugging away and never give up.
“Today is an example; I’ve worked so hard to get back and play in games like that. It’s what I love doing. I just want to play as many games as possible, if the manager sees that I’m fit enough to play and doing a good job for him, I’m delighted to be playing again.”
