Watford star Richarlison has explained why he was crying on the Hornets bench during the incredible victory over Chelsea.
Watford secured a much-needed 4-1 win over the reigning Premier League champions on Monday evening.
Richarlison started the game but was subbed in the second half for Roberto Pereyra when Watford were leading 1-0 through Troy Deeney’s penalty.
Eden Hazard scored a superb equaliser for the Blues soon after but a 10-minute blitz from the home side, including a goal from Pereyra, saw them emerge victorious.
Richarlison was seen crying on the bench after being substituted, and explained that it was simply because he wanted to help the team.
“I was crying because I wanted to play and help by team-mates,” he told ESPN Brasil.
“But in the end the guy that entered the pitch did the job well so it’s all okay.”
