Robertson laughs off Bruce’s £30m claim

Robertson has been linked with a move to Aston Villa this summer, but Bruce said last week it would take a hefty fee for Hull to part with a player they signed for £2.85million from Dundee United 12 months ago.

“Luke Shaw went from Southampton to Manchester United after just one season in the top flight for £30m, and I rate Andy on a par with him as a young player with bags of ability and potential,” Bruce said on Robertson in the Daily Star.

“We have already had calls from clubs asking to be kept informed about his situation, and it might become inevitable that he goes.

“I’ve heard people talking about it taking £12million to buy him.

“That would just about buy his right leg – and the boy is left-footed!”

Robertson, who was an unused substitute as Scotland beat Qatar 1-0 on Friday night, is paying little attention to the speculation.

“The manager’s comments are flattering but I don’t read too much into it,” he told the Scottish Sun. “He might have had a few beers on holiday or whatever! We’ll wait and see.”
