Paul Robinson: Signed new deal

Burnley goalkeeper Paul Robinson has signed a new one-year deal with the newly-promoted Premier League club.

Former England international Robinson, 36, who provided back-up to Tom Heaton last season following an injury to Matt Gilks, has yet to make a competitive appearance for the Clarets.

“We are delighted to have Paul back on board,” Burnley boss Sean Dyche told the club’s official website.

“He continues to work hard at his profession and his wealth of experience is hugely beneficial to the team and, in particular, the goalkeeping department.

“Our other goalkeepers, especially the younger ones, will continue to improve while Paul is with us and we look forward to working with him again this coming season.”

Robinson, who won 41 caps for England, progressed through Leeds’ academy and has had spells at Tottenham and Blackburn, making a combined total of 421 appearances. He joined Burnley on a short-term deal in January.
