Wolfsburg left-back Ricardo Rodriguez has reminded potential suitors about his talent and experience after failing to secure a summer move.
The 24-year-old was linked with the likes of Arsenal, Chelsea, Manchester City and Barcelona over the course of the off-season, but despite his best efforts to begin a new chapter elsewhere he has remained with the Bundesliga club.
However, the Swiss international was keen to stress that his price tag would justify value for money.
“I don’t think €25million is too much for me,” Rodriguez told German newspaper Bild.
“I’m only 24 and I already have more than four years of experience as a regular in the Bundesliga and the national team, and over €40million has been spent on players with less going for them.
“To be honest, I don’t think any footballer is worth so much, but these are the mechanics of professional football.”
After advertising his services, Rodriguez also said that he held no grudge with his current employers.
“I have a contract here until 2019 and I’ve been here for four-and-a-half years and established quite a reputation within the team,” Rodriguez added.
“Everything’s good, believe me.”
