Roma general director Mauro Baldissoni has played down reports that key midfielder Radja Nainggolan is poised to make a £35million switch to Chelsea this summer.
Incoming Chelsea manager Antonio Conte is thought to be a keen admirer of the 27-year-old and rumours of a swoop for the Belgium international have gathered pace in recent weeks after another Roma’s sporting director, Walter Sabatini, was recently spotted at Stamford Bridge.
But Baldissoni has scoffed at the claims that he was in London to finalise the sale of Nainggolan, instead insisting that Chelsea loanee Mohamed Salah was the subject of his visit.
“Just because someone takes a photo while visiting Chelsea, people assume all sorts of things,” Baldissoni told Mediaset Premium.
“He could have also visited Arsenal, Tottenham and other clubs to find out who is on the market and who isn’t.
“Anyway, he was there with Mohamed Salah’s agent because we will be buying him outright this summer,” claimed Baldissoni.
Nainggolan is one of a number of Serie A stars linked with Chelsea in recent weeks, with Konstas Manolas and Leonardo Bonucci also linked with a move to Stamford Bridge this summer.
