Roma goalkeeper Alisson fails to put Liverpool transfer talk to bed

In-demand Roma goalkeeper Alisson has refused to rule out a potential summer move to Liverpool or Real Madrid.

The 25-year-old Brazilian keeper has kept 20 clean sheets in 46 games this season for Roma, helping them to a surprise place in the semi-finals of the Champions League.

Most odds providers reckon a win is probable for Liverpool, but Roma’s run in europe has been incredible regardless.

Alisson has developed into one of the world’s best keepers and both Liverpool and Real Madrid have been linked with a summer move for his services.

Corriere dello Sport claimed recently that Real were ready to make a €60million bid for the player in the summer.

Don Balon also claimed Liverpool were ready to test Roma’s resolve to keep Alisson by launching a massive €80million (£70.5m) offer to the Serie A giants.

However, owner James Pallotta has always maintained his stance that Alisson is not for sale

“We have no intention of selling him. No chance,” he told Sky Sport Italia after Roma’s 0-0 draw with Lazio, while last week Pallotta confirmed Liverpool’s interest and reiterated that Roma will not sell him this summer.

“I am not going to sell him,” Pallotta told Sky. “Liverpool want to sign him and we are on very good terms with him.”

Alisson though has refused to put the transfer talk to bed in an interview with Gazzetta dello Sport and admitted he can still focus on his game regardless of transfer negotiations going on in the background.

Alisson said: “I do not know what will happen. It is logical that interest makes me happy. I say it’s not just a question of needing. I know my value – not in terms of money, but as a player – I know what I bring to the team. But I think only of the present. What will happen next, we leave it for later.

“I’m here, and to do well, I have to focus on this. Even when I was at Internacional, I had negotiations with Rome, but I was thinking only of doing well. I played six months with the contract already signed with the Giallorossi, yet I won the same.”
