Real are currently on a pre-season tour of Australia, and Ronaldo is said to have been annoyed by a training drill in which Benitez instructed players to strike the crossbar from distance.
“It’s meant to be the ball in there, in the net, not this s**t,” Ronaldo is quoted as saying by AS.
Ronaldo was also caught on camera complaining about Benitez’s refereeing of a training match, saying: “He gives everything against the Portuguese.”
It has inevitably led to speculation that Ronaldo could return to Manchester United, with The Sun claiming the Premier League club have been put on ‘red alert’ by reports of the rift.
Benitez, however, has played down Ronaldo’s show of frustration on the training pitch.
“He’s competitive, he likes to win,” the Real boss said of the 30-year-old, “and for that reason he is the best in the world.”
