Roy Keane names the three Liverpool players who bossed Man City

Roy Keane named three Liverpool stars that he feels gave Jurgen Klopp’s side the “foundation” to go on and beat Manchester City on Wednesday night.

The Reds ran out 3-0 winners thanks to first-half goals from Mo Salah, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Sadio Mane to give them a comprehensive lead to take to the Etihad Stadium for the 2nd of their Champions League quarter-final next week.

And Keane, who won the Europe’s premier cup competition with Manchester United, was full of praise for an “outstanding” display from Jurgen Klopp’s men.

“Great team performance, they obviously had a great start,” Keane said on ITV Sport.

“We’ve seen it previously, Liverpool have the players that can hurt Man City, particularly on the counter attack. And they got heavily punished for it tonight.

“Liverpool, from a team performance, were outstanding. I thought the three players in midfield were outstanding as well.

“Milner, Henderson, Oxlade-Chamberlain gave them that foundation to go on and win the game.

“I bet Liverpool can’t believe their luck to be 3-0 up. It’ll be a tough second leg but they’ll still fancy themselves to get an away goal and then the tie will be over.”

Keane wasn’t so complimentary earlier in the season after the Reds beat Maribor in the Champions League, stating that “he would not watch them if they were playing in his back garden”.
