Pep Guardiola: Bayern Munich boss linked with Premier League clubs

Bayern Munich chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge knows Pep Guardiola’s next club – but is refusing to reveal their identity as it’s “not my place to say”.

Guardiola has been widely linked with a move to the Premier League with reported interest from both Manchester clubs and Chelsea. Links to all three Premier League clubs grew on Sunday with the German club confirming he would be leaving at the end of the season.

Rummenigge refused to reveal the identity of the team, despite admitting Guardiola told him two weeks ago that he was leaving, because he believes it is not his place to say.

“I think I know where he is going,” Rummenigge told Bild. “But I want to leave the announcement to him or his new employer.

“At the Christmas party two weeks ago he came to me, he told me that he was looking for a new challenge and almost apologised. It was clearly difficult for him, I’m not disappointed in him.”

Rummenigge decided to instead focus on the talents of Carlo Ancelotti, who will take over at Bayern Munich when Guardiola leaves.

He says that Bayern weren’t the only club interested in the former Real Madrid boss and feels Ancelotti has all the skills at his disposal to succeed.

“Carlo Ancelotti has been successful everywhere,” he said.

“He has won the Champions League three times. That is still a record, and of course he has all the qualities. He suits us, as simple as that, half of Europe was after him”.
