Diafra Sakho: Suffers another injury

Crystal Palace are reportedly ready to rival West Brom and Sunderland in the race for Diafra Sakho – with the multiple interest in the West Ham striker set to send his price tag soaring.

The 26-year-old Senegal star has asked to leave the Hammers this summer after falling out with Slaven Bilic and with the club keen to bring in a marquee striker signing to mark their move to the Olympic Stadium.

The Hammers were initially thought to be seeking around £9million for the striker, but interest in the player from the Eagles is likely to send the price soaring to around the £14million mark, with Palace joining Sunderland, West Brom and Swansea in the race to sign him.

Palace are reportedly set to turn to Sakho after seeing their £25million bid for Christian Benteke rejected by Liverpool, while efforts to sign Saido Berahino from West Brom also look destined for failure amid reports Stoke are his most likely destination.

West Ham, however, are adamant they will not allow Sakho, who has scored 15 goals in 43 appearances, to depart until they have brought in his replacement.

The Hammers are trying to sign AC Milan striker Carlos Bacca.

They are waiting for a response from the 29-year-old Colombian after making him a contract offer last week, though indications are that he will reject the move on the grounds that he wants to play for a team in the Champions League.

Sakho, on £30,000-a-week, has reportedly refused to travel with West Ham ’s squad for their pre-season training camp in Austria in a bid to speed up his departure.
