Salah puts his finger on Liverpool’s recent poor results

Liverpool new boy Mohamed Salah does not believe their recent run of poor results is anything to worry about.

The 7-0 hammering of Maribor last night was only their second win in nine games, but Jurgen Klopp’s men have been creating chances, according to Salah.

They dominated possession in Saturday’s 0-0 draw with Manchester United, but could not convert their opportunities.

They did however put that right in Slovenia with a resounding win. Salah scored twice in the 7-0 win over Maribor, although his second, although awarded to him by UEFA on the night may be awarded to Roberto Firmino.

“I don’t know, we’ll see now.” he told BT Sport, when asked whether the goal was his.

“But I celebrated and they gave the goal to me, but I would say it doesn’t change anything. The team did good and we had a good result so that’s the most important thing.

“I’m very happy for that – seven goals or eight goals doesn’t change anything, but the most important thing for us is to concentrate on improving the results in the Premier League.

“We didn’t win for two, three games, so we need to carry on and keep looking forward and win the next games.

“We have had bad luck. In the last three or four games we missed many chances, if you saw the games you know we created many chances that we missed and we had bad luck.

“So now I think that everyone has confidence the good result is coming, so now we are in a good position and I’m sure in the next games it will be the same.”

Meanwhile, midfielder Emre Can, whose contract talks with the club have hit an impasse over the inclusion of a release clause, hailed the recruitment of the Egypt forward.

“He can always score,” said Can. “He’s quick, creating chances, he’s a brilliant player and a brilliant signing for us and he did a very good job.

“But I think you can’t pick today, everybody did well, everybody played good and that’s the way we have to go.”

And Can immediately turned his attention to Sunday’s Wembley clash with Spurs.

“It was great,” added Can. “We didn’t concede a goal, that’s important as well, and then we scored goals, created good chances, and I think it was a deserved win.

“You have to score and that was the reason we didn’t win the last games.

“Today we did it very well and I hope that was the game where it starts now again, the winning ways. It was a great performance and we have Sunday now, against Tottenham – a great game and hopefully we’ll play similar to today.”
