Sampdoria are currently without a manager following the departure of Sinisa Mihajlovic, but Ferraro revealed at a book signing on Wednesday evening that Walter Zenga, the former Palermo coach and one-time Samp goalkeeper, will replace the Serbian, who is set to take over at AC Milan rather than Napoli.

“(Napoli chairman) Aurelio De Laurentiis missed a great opportunity,” Ferraro said. If Sinisa had gone to Napoli he would’ve put on a tie, now he’ll wear a bowtie and tails at Milan.

“I spoke to Jurgen Klopp, Roberto Di Matteo, Unai Emery and Maurizio Sarri. They explained that they wanted to play great football, but I have a physical side and want the people Zenga talked to me about.

“I chose Zenga because he wanted to come back to Italy and already knows the Sampdoria environment.”

Ferrero also revealed he is wants to sign Chelsea defender or midfielder Zouma, 20, having already captured Niklas Moisander.

“I already signed Moisander from Ajax and I am trying to get Zouma, because they are very physical players,” Ferrero added.

Zouma joined Chelsea for £12million from Saint-Etienne in January 2014 but has made only seven starts in the Premier League having spent the second half of last season back on loan in France.
