Former Inter Milan winger Ezequiel Schelotto has admitted he is keen to make a move to Leicester after confirming he has been in talks with them.
Schelotto, who was born in Argentina but has been capped by Italy, is currently a free agent after leaving Inter following the termination of his contract with them in August.
The winger, capped just once by the Azzurri in 2012, counts Cesena and Atalanta among his former clubs, while he’s also had loan spells at Chievo, Catania, Sassuolo and Parma.
Leicester’s Italian boss Claudio Ranieri recently played down talk of the Foxes signing the 26-year-old, calling it “speculation”.
But on Wednesday the player was quoted as telling La Gazzetta dello Sport: “I’d like to play there and I’m ready to get back into action.
“I don’t know what stage the negotiations are at with Leicester, but if (former Foxes and Argentina midfielder Esteban) Cambiasso can do well there, then I’m sure I can too.
“I would never have imagined I’d find myself without a club at the age of 26. Now I’m waiting for a gift – a new club.”
