Bastian Schweinsteiger: Faces uncertain future at Old Trafford

Veteran Bastian Schweinsteiger insists he feels good enough to continue playing for Manchester United for a number of years.

Schweinsteiger moved to Old Trafford on a three-year contract in the summer having played at Bayern Munich for 14 years and has now made over 600 career appearances.

Questions were raised regarding the 31-year-old’s fitness due to his injury problems over the past few years but the midfielder is confident he has plenty to offer over the coming campaigns.

“I hope there are many more seasons to come with United,” he told the Manchester Evening News. “I feel very good at the moment.

“We have experience in our team and we have young players with quality in the team, so if we all do our job well in the group then I think we can achieve a lot.

Schweinsteiger has enjoyed a trophy-laden career, having won eight Bundesliga titles, a Champions League and a World Cup.

And the former Germany captain wants to crown his spell in England with another title.

“I want to win titles and I think Manchester United is also used to winning titles, so that is definitely my goal,” he added.

“But for those type of moments, we will all have to work very hard together and always try to improve ourselves.”
