Manchester United defender Luke Shaw is rated as doubtful for this weekend’s clash against Leicester after he suffered a minor groin tear.
The 21-year-old came under heavy criticism from manager Jose Mourinho after the 3-1 defeat to Watford, but an MRI scan has since revealed his performance may have been hindered by injury.
Mourinho blamed Shaw for Watford’s second goal in his post-match press conference: “Our left-back is 25 metres away instead of five. But give him 25 metres and you have to press. But no, we wait. It is a tactical but also mental attitude.”
According to PA, Shaw is said to be disappointed about being singled out by the manager but wants to play on through his injury in order to redeem himself. However, he will play no part against Northampton Town in the EFL Cup third round.
